8"x8" original oil

This painting was both a challenge and was freeing for me.  I somehow deleted the photo I had taken of this guest house at my friend's home on the cape.  I had done a sketch which I based the painting on, but I hadn't made color notes.  The challenge was to get enough detail to create a mood and try to capture some of the details which originally enchanted me.  The freeing part was not being tied to a photo and getting to lmake it up as I went.  What I really like about this lovely cabin is the turquoise used for the trim and flower pots and the metal sun sculpture hanging by the door.

This is a better photo of yesterday's painting.  I am still thinking about making some changes to it.

Quebec City has eye candy around every corner.  Today was a linear day so I painted architecture.

Wisteria acrylic 6"x6" #268

The wisteria, lilacs, and dogwoods are blooming in NC. It is snowing and we have a fire in the fireplace here in VT. This image is like a magical place...if you open the right door it takes you to a warm and sunny place, but if you choose the wrong one, you go back to the land of winter. I wish I had painted a bicycle in this....I may have to go back and add that.

This is from a photo my daughter shot and was a gift for her. I also did a version for her brother who really liked it.

This is the view from my daughter's old house onto her neighbors. I painted it from a photo I found that I had taken when my first grandson was born. Maybe I will paint her neighbor's in honor of the birth of my second grandson. I am going to change some things. I painted this at night in very bad lighting at the kitchen table and I need to fix some of the colors and some of the shadows, but mostly I like it.
