6"x6" oil

I have been working on larger panels for a while and it was really fun to return to this small 6"x6".  I can't seem to get the variety of colors that are in the painting to show up in my photos, which is a little frustrating for me.  This was a fun painting to do and it reminded me of some of the things I really like doing when I am painting.

30-30 Challenge #10&11

I am trying to get caught up because I am so far behind on my 30 paintings.  The top one is from a friend's photo which just captured my attention and the bottom one is of my favorite kayaking lake.

Crystal and Sea Glass 6"x6"

On another note....I did this painting glass challenge for DPW.  It is a cut glass bowl with green sea glass in it that I got at the beach this summer.  I like how abstract it is.  Painting it wasn't easy but it was fun.  I originally had some shells in it, but they were just a distraction so I painted over them.  I love how the light dances through the many facets and casts all kinds of bouncing light colors. $100 and $10 shipping

Yellow Rose of Texas 6"x6" #229 oil

This painting was a direct result of the assignment I gave myself last summer to do a painting a day. We drove to Boston and back with things to do in the middle, and it was a really early and long day so I knew I only had energy to quickly whip out a painting in 1/2 hour or less. It is also a response to Qiang Huang's Daily Paintworks challenge of painting a rose, something I have seldom done. So, armed with a 3/4" brush and a 1 1/2" brush I did this very loose rose thanks to my friend Dan Hale who grows exquisite roses. It didn't turn out how I imagined it would, but I love the big, loose and direct brushstrokes.
